* * * NY Life Jacket Law: Fellow
paddlers, please be aware that New York State has passed a
Cold
Weather PFD Law. All persons aboard recreational craft up to 21 feet in length are
required to wear a USCG approved PFD from Nov-1 to May-1 or risk being fined.
This law is in addition to an existing year-round law for youths under 12 on vessels up to
65-ft when underway.
* * * CT Life Jacket Law: Fellow
paddlers, please be aware of Connecticut State's Cold
Weather PFD Law. During the period from October 1st through May 31st, all persons on board
a manually propelled vessel shall wear a Type I, II, III or V, U.S. Coast Guard approved personal
flotation device and no operator, or owner or user of a manually propelled vessel shall allow any
person to be aboard who is not wearing such a device.
Comfort and flexibility are the chief complaints against PFD wear, but
modern choices make these moot even for women, learn more on our PFD
Quick Class. Please remember just because in the summer months it is not required by law
to wear your PFD. we at CTPI and SKSA hope that you still will. It floats and you don't.
