A great place to practice skills at all levels. Depending on the weather we will either go out into the bay, or stay on the inside and enjoy the quite back waters of Scallop Pond or perhaps do both.

Before wearing the green, don your dry suit or wet suit and paddle the blue/Green water. We will paddle across Bellport bay to Fire Island and explore the shore.

Mid Week Break Wednesday evening tour with the Long Island Maritime Museum.Enjoy the sunset and cool breezes on the Great South Bay. The lesson begins at 5:30 pm. Tours start promptly at 6:30 pm immediately following the lesson.

Cool off on those hot Friday evenings paddling and practicing your skills immediately following our one-hour Friday afternoon skills clinic. You get to develop your skills for up to three hours on Friday night. The clinic begins at 5:30 pm. Tours start promptly at 6:30 pm immediately following the clinic.

Experience the romance as the moon rises over the Bay from the vantage-point of your kayak. Paddle with your companions with silvery light reflecting on the water. Start times will vary depending on the time of moonrise each tour.

Every Tueaday and Thursday morning, weather permitting, we get together an high energy group for exercise on the Connetquot River in Oakdale. Spring migration has begun. There are few more effective ways to approach shorebirds than in a kayak. Come with us a observe the vast array of birds and other wildlife as they feed on the mud flats of Shinnecock Bay. Bring your waterproof binoculars and camera, we hope to get a close look at many different species.

SKSA provides instructional and interpretive environmental adventures for your group or organization. We'll work with you to plan your tour, tailored to your skills and interests from team-building to recreation.

Paddling in the winter or early spring can be a especially challenging. Because of the danger of cold shock, cold collapse and hypothermia, the risks of immersion are serious. The primary concern is the temperature of the water. We follow the 60/120 rule: if the water temperature is below 60-F or if the water plus air temperature is below 120-F special protection is manditory.
